The following is Vivian Kistler's personal recommendation regarding the Certified Picture Framers test.
Contact the PPFA at 1-804-226-0430 to receive a packet of information and recommended procedures.
Dear Picture Framer,
Taking the Certified Picture Framers test is a test of your knowledge of professional framing as well as your ability to take a
test. The exam was developed by a team composed of experienced framers, test writers and examiners from the ETS Company which specializes in the SAT college entrance exams. Take it one question at a time, doing all the ones you know first, leaving the questionable ones for last.
Check your math!
You will have a workbook with the questions and a separate answer page. You may scribble on the workbook, however the answer page will be read by a computer so only make appropriate marks. To answer, fill in the oval shape with a #2 pencil. The time allotted to take the test is 3 hours. Use any extra time to check your math. The cost is the same whether you are there for 10 minutes or 3 hours.

During this test, answer all the questions as if you are the finest framer, with
all the best equipment and materials on hand in your shop. There are no money or
time restrictions. When responding to the questions don’t let your ego or “frugal
nature” corrupt your reply --- answer what you should do, not what you would
do.
