Sat 10am - Pricing Custom Framing
Are you making money or
just providing a job for yourself? Learn how to figure
out what is fair for your area and type of shop. The key
to fair prices is in the labor and materials. Compare
the operating costs of three shops with gross sales of
$75,000, $200,000 and $500,000 and see how they compare
to your shop. Mark ups? Discounts? The answers are in
this class.

12:30pm - Framing Needlework
Block
needlepoint without risk. Learn new methods to handle
very delicate pieces. Learn to block, pad, stretch, lace
and mat needlework. Methods for handling needlepoint,
crewel, cross-stitch, molas, rugs, Chinese silks, batiks
and other types of fabric and needlework.

2:30pm - Framing Collectibles
You will learn about the types of moulding, boards, and
glazing suitable for framing collectibles plus 14
methods of supporting objects. Several projects include
sports memorabilia, T-shirts, trading cards, caps,
programs, newspapers, baby dresses, flags, rifles,
military medals, pins, and plates. All methods are
completely conservation and totally reversible. Frames
with doors and hidden closures. Supporting and hanging
the big ones.
Sun 10am - Supporting Art on Paper
All
artwork put into a frame must be supported or it will
eventually buckle. Vivian will show you the methods of
supporting art in a frame from encapsulation to dry
mounting. She will cover tapes, adhesives, corner
pockets, edge strips, sink mats and show you how to
float large art on paper. Methods include double-sided
viewing. How to handle skin parchments, newsprint,
originals and limited edition prints.

12:30pm - Identifying & Framing Fine Art Prints
Learn to identify the type of artwork you are framing or
selling. This class will show you up close and hands-on the
difference between genuine printmaking methods and
reproductions. See etchings, drypoints, engravings,
lithographs, serigraphs, aquatints, collotypes, giclées and
other printmaking techniques. You'll use a magnifying glass
to see the details of fine art prints. Conservation hinges
and other supports for the smallest to the largest art on
paper.

2:30pm - Dynamic Frame Design
Learn to design custom
framing. How to select mat combinations and moulding for
different pieces of art. 10 Keys of good design for
paintings, prints, shadow boxes and other art media. How
wide the mat? Moulding? Colors? New ideas to expand
your design abilities. Vivian will show you a wealth of
ideas to take back to your shop and use right away.
